The Africa Twin is powered by the same water-cooled V-Twin used by the Honda NT650 Hawk. The Honda Africa Twin was such a popular enduro bike that it has been in continuous production ever since

Nonetheless, this “manual version” of the Africa Twin did not disappoint at all. The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin is easily one of the best adventure bikes Japan has to offer and is definitely more reliable than its European counterparts.
I kindly disagree that Honda = reliability without fail. Not specifically the Africa Twin..rather Honda in general when the name 'Honda' is dropped. I agree, generally speaking, that I also presume a used Honda AT would be more reliable than a used BMW GS with zero data to back it up. Others: please provide reliability data directly for an

In the field if this is suspected to happen on a LiFePO4 outfitted Africa Twin, it might be possible to charge recover with the help of another 12V battery (albeit no current limit protection), or a very high end charger that has the "power supply functionality" built in for LiFePO4 batteries. Riding is good therapy.
The tenere is far heavier than the Africa twin. Offroad id definitely pick the lighter of the two. If you plan on a lot of long journey the yamaha would be less maintenance being shaft drive and more comfortable i think. I like both bikes but I feel they play two different roles. If you plan on a lot of offroad I'd look for something lighterI think it's lighter than the AT by a bit too which is a factor if off-roading. AT will be much easier to load up with panniers etc I would imagine. The Scrambler looks and sounds good too which for me was a factor. For reliability I'd almost certainly say Honda on reputation. .
